      Just seen this after posting my new thread - I'm sure this is going to get around fast as Barry was well known to almost all the club lads, and others, across the NE sea-angling scene. A very sad loss.

        my brother and i are on cullercoats rnli and well they got paged at 2:30am and he never returend till 4:30 so i think they did as much as possible at the time but the sea will nearly always win

          Wise words Curtis but, as often, very sad ones. Being on the Cullercoats or any rescue boat has a lots of ups and downs. My old man used to say, every time the rocket went off and the lifeboat was launched, that it was like being dealt a 5 in pontoon....you'll probably lose but you might get away with a draw. The win doesn't exist because you can only put people back where they were before the problem, hence the draw. Today is a very sad day both in the North East and in your house.
