Alreet fellas, whilst fishing on saturday i witnessed some cliffs collapsing into the sea along Whitburn, it wasnt what i would consider a huge collapse but it was enough to get me worried about the impending high tides and rough seas. The cliffs along Whitburn are similar to those at Ryhope,Marsden etc, limestone topped with a couple of metres of mud and grass, it was mostly the top mud sections that were coming down but anyone below or on top would have been in trouble. Its scary when you see how close the uninformed get to the cliff edge, whilst watching the cliffs come down i could see a dogwalker peering over the edge not 20 yards from it, if only they knew how close they were to becoming another newspaper report.....Please stay safe whilst you are owt there guys, id hate to read about another tragic loss to our community.
