Regarding Dave Rogers monster 49lb cod, it certainly beat the European record, which stands at 44lb as did Nick Robson’s two big cod, a claim could have difficulty if the scales are not accepted. Just think Nick Robson’s two big fish With the help of IGFA, who hold the world record lists, I was able to ascertain by the process of elimination, Nick Robson’s two big cod where the biggest shore caught cod officially recorded anywhere, that is until Dave landed his monster, unfortunately IGFA do not differentiated between shore and boat caught so for some species such as cod, shore anglers stand no chance of breaking the record of 98lb. Dave and Nick are not to despondent about this, as they said, they will be back to Skarnsundet next year with accredited scales and see if they can beat their previous.

Cheers Alan i don't think mine will be classed a record if the scales get verified if i do it will only be for 24hrs I'm sure there is bigger fish out there at skarnsundet just have to try again next year i was lucky enough to beat it twice while over there and to be honest i still cant get over the size of the fish me and Dave landed, unbelievable is an understatement.
