  • Never give up! (broken rod content)

A couple of years ago I broke my favourite rod in a stupid accident, even more stupidly it was a telescopic Diawa carp rod (don't laugh) but it was so versatile & great for just chucking in the car, I could spin for macky, pollack & bass, chuck a float out or even a small rig in deeper water. Anyway, I'd snapped the tip section off & asked a few people if it could be repaired, 'no way Pedro' was the general consensus ( I even asked Century if they had any bits of tip section lying about, not interested in the slightest) & Diawa were about as much use as a dose of crabs. So I turned to Fleabay & as luck would have it a guy was selling a 2 piece Diawa carp rod with a broken tip section which turned out to be the same test curve & dimensions that I was after. I bid on the whole item & won it for £1.20! Got the tip section delivered today for £5.70 with postage, stripped the rings off, re-fitted the tip ring & tried it with a 2.5oz sinker. Perfect!
I nearly binned the rod when I 1st did it but I'm so pleased I didn't!

You'll catch me on Seaham pier when the macky arrive!

ggod one. like you say never give up.

I have an old spinning rod I must have bought for 15 quid if that almost 30 years ago. Don't even know what make it is and its seen better days but it is still one of my favourites. Casts a spinner a dream and great in the summer or for bait fishing for trout. If it ever knacks I'll try v hard to fix it first
