  • Abu 6000 handle going backwards!

Sometimes the handle on my abu 6000c spins backwards. What do I need to stop this happening?. Also it has a bit of "play" in it, like when ya stop reeling in the handle will go backwards a bit but my mk2 rocket has none of this. Is it possible to buy some rocket spares to upgrade my 6000? can someone tell me what I need?

itll be the anti reverse clip that fits over the cog inside, more than likely it wont be broke it will just need squeezing together and a bit oil put on the cog will cure it.its a small metal thing with a hole at one end that fits over a pin and the other end has 2 brass lugs on it that fits over the cog,its these brass lugs that u squeeze together.if your not sure wot it looks like ill try and stick a pic up

Give Peter Coogan a ring at Pure Fishing. 07740306500 / 0151 6773609. He is the Abu agent in the UK. Parts are not expensive and will talk you through any problems and repairs.

i no longer use them but when i first started fishing i used them all the time,i had various models in the 6000 and 6500 range which i would take apart 2 clean on a regular basis and i also came across the problem in question.i still have a few broken ones in the shed.i was going 2 dig them out and take a photo ov the exact part im onabout but the thought ov just opening my shed door is making my head hurt..lol

All sorted now thanks to dabcatcher, he striped it down and re-greased it and now it's sweet as a nut
