    End Of Season

    Aye, you're right.

It's just about the end of 'Sea Fishing' for me as well. All-in-all it's been a poor Winter ( cod-wise)

We've got the A.G.M. this week of a trout club of which I'm a member and that tells me it's time to tie a few flies in readiness for the season starting on 22nd March.

Might have a go at the mackerel on spinner or fly, if and when.

    Cheers,

    Drof

I think a lot of people will feel the same. Fancy having a session on a boat myself.

Not been out much over the winter due to my health, three times in the last three weeks about sums it all up. Hoping to have a go for the Mackerel on fly myself this year, it will have to be a perfect day though as it's a bit of a walk for me now and I don't want to have to do it for nothing as it will hurt a lot lol.

Still hoping to get a bit of summer fishing up Beadnell way, it's nice fishing with the sun on your back instead of a fleece and a smock.

I might just get a license this year too and hopefully have a few of days after some trout.

        Jim.

can't figure out why everyone packs away for the summer coz they are missin out in my opinion.
fishin for the reddins in the weed up the the coast is tremendous, always do well if not better than through the winter the difference being it's a lot warmer ! even the choice of bait is made easier, crab crab and crab, there's no going out with half the tackle shop bait fridge and freezer in rucksack or box!
don't get me wrong, i enjoy the winter season as much as the next guy but i think those of u who hang up your rods coz it's not blowin a a bit and it's not -4 with all feelin of your fingers, toes and face gone are missin a treat coz there's nothin wrong with catchin quality fish with a bit of sunshine on your back for the cause and it definately doesn't make you any less of an angler neither !
so get out and enjoy it when the time comes

whilst the cod fishing on the north east coast has not been one of the best in recent years, there has been a few notable exceptions where people have had decent sessions, nevertheless with the fantastic seas we have had it should have been better, the one good point i have noticed is the good number of small tommy codling that have been caught, that can only bode well for the future.

looking forward to fishing in a t shirt with the sun on my back for wrasse pollock & reddies

                                aye me too

The fishing isn't the halcyon days of yore when all we had to do, apparently, was to drop a line in the water round these parts and walk away with 20+ fish and a double guaranteed - but it is what it is and there are fish out there to be caught; and the better anglers prove that they can still be caught in numbers
                                Ooh a new vid!
