  • world record cod

    alright, been trawling over the net last night for ages trying to find what the world record is for a shore caught cod, as to no avail so far, been onto IGFA's site and couldn't find it, anybody know where a world shore caught record list lives

      have seen that list Dave the cod record was taken from a boat, think they jumble them all to opne list shore/boat

          lad on wsf on phils blog in the european section saying at least hes still got the british record, been trying to find out myself and from what ive found, the existing record was beet 3 times by Dave and Nicky on our trip

            Think it could be 54lb, I recall this figure was in the mags a few years ago but dont know if its boat caught or shore, i know the British record was around the 44lb mark.....may be wrong hope you find out.

                Mick, Dave and Nicky's fish were not caught in the UK so would not count as british record even if they are bigger.

                  Didn't Ken Robinson get a 44lb 'er from Balcary a few years back ?

                  I'm sure that was a Scottish record, not sure about a UK record.

                    All three of the big Norway cod would have beaten the European record which stands at 44lb 8oz caught from Barry, Wales in 1966.

                    A wee bit to go for the European ALl-Tackle record - 82lb! from Norway.

                        british shore record is showing 44 lb 8 ounces by a b . jones at glamorgan boat record is showing 58lb 8 ounces by noel cook at whitby if this helps .

                          yes 44 lb from wales the story been in the sea angler a few times ,he got the fish mounted aswell he was a young boy fishing with his dad an am sure he was fishin with herring strip

                              Kens was 40lb and as far as I know still the Scottish record

                              the 58lb was baot caught and the British record although not applicable is 44lb
