    fished shields pier with my son james loads of anglers down like some1 said there must of been 20+ anglers not a lot of fish taken i got 2 codlings of 2and half pound .i lifted 1 4 ninky which was 5 1/2lbs which he got 1st cast then peter seymour came down and 1st cast got 1 of about 8lbs its hard to judge the size of the top of the pier anyway i jumped on2 the wall 2 lift it got it up about 3ft and it came off and swam away [sorry peter just 1 of those things mate] i like my new name now.

      1st cast got 1 of about 8lbs its hard to judge the size of the top of the pier anyway i jumped on2 the wall 2 lift it got it up about 3ft and it came off and swam away [sorry peter just 1 of those things mate]


      Does no one carry a drop net? the fish of a life time could be lost like this.

        nets on s/s

        i have seen people trying to use a net from s/s but from that hight and the fierce tide and rough seas i have never seen any body succeed to get the fish in the net
        old anglers never die -they just smell that way

          cheers davy i could,nt of put it any better myself it is hard to use a net unless the fish was round by the steps then you could just drag it to the bottom

              fished s/shields pier 9am-1pm plenty fishing only heard of one average codling taking on the end

                  fished the end meself saturday 10am - 2.30, think i just missed the bigun by a few minutes, for the amount of rods that was out it was very dissapointing tbh, had 2 knocks all day and ended with a big fat blank lol

                      fished on till 6 0nly another 5 cod caught neil cutler had 2 for bout 2lb each, norman spour had i bout 1.75lb another lad got 1 bout 2.5lb just before 6, an a got the runt of he day 1.25 wich got put back alive and swam away to grow a lot bigger a hpoe , on the way off never heard of or seen another sizable fish on pier today

                        what bout the 15lber for bob staines did'nt need drop net for that either hand balled as well
