Fishing was 8-12 not 9-1 so you are fishing 3h45m ebb and no flood.Stores, beaches apart it will be impossible to get on 99% of rock marks for at least an hour and a half.

Talked about this on the way home. The problem is the Open calender is now so full that if you pick a tide say for 10pm to fish two down, two up the the low water on the Sunday is going to be around 10.30am and likely to be booked for an Open.

Probably hard trying to fit it in and I know how hard it is to run an Open, you\'ll never please everyone anyway. Hard to get perfect tides all the time.

Then could it not be about ones fishing knowlage?? I had/we 2 places in mind, fish the boat house down, then the last 2 hours switch to Small Bay or the Panama with an option of the Pipe but that was a lot of time waisted running between spots. So we stuck with Blyth Pier, I think 2nd team event went to 2 ladds fishing the pier????

Peter,i know as well as anyone how hard it is organising opens but the fact remains that for the last 2/3 years w/bay have always had crap tides/times for their opens.A hell of alot of local lads didnt fish last night because of this, they did it with the sea league match the night before as well!

Myself and 5 others fished Whitley Bay beach. 4 rockling, a flattie and a whitey between us. Nowt for me again Not impressed by the organisation this year. Scabby liitle room for prize giving, no grub afterwards, top dollar drinks and poor prize table.

Aye plenty fish around crack-off just not for us. Apparently Chris Stringer made a move to a new spot to bag up in the last hour. HSF at Whitley about 8 1/2 lb Gogs

oops didn\'t see the previous post re: HSF

Think that was the way it was. Lad I was fishing with had 3 whiting earlier but got 3 codling in the last hour and ended up 9lb 14oz. Reckon if you had fished on they would have been there for the start of the flood as well.

Still enjoyed the comp as it\'s the first time I\'ve fished it for a few years.

Exactly Peter, thats why it is a load of crap holding a match with 3h 45m ebb, with an hour and a half or so of the flood put in as should be the case there would have been alot more fish caught(and more people out fishing it!)

It\'s getting harder to fit them all in, more clubs and all wanting an open. Seaton Sluice are fishing theirs next year as an evening match also and it can only be that all the suitable tides are booked up.

Good chance of decent fish in a night match but also the chance for cheats to go undetected. I wouldn\'t like to be put in a funny position with decisions about events in the dark.
