i forgot to mention in my post (monday25th&tuesday26th)that when i was fishing blyth peir several trwalers where leaving the harbour and i noticed that the last one had his net in the water as he was leaving the harbour i couldnt belive what i was seeing if i hadnt of left my phone in the car i would of certainly rang the coastguard just to make enquieries about it or even report it but as soon as the boat left we packed up and left thought it would of been pointless stopping any longer

If anything, he must have been washing the net.
Any skipper would know not to shoot the net there on the way out anyway, as they would damage their net when they hit the hard ground.
There is too much money to lose with a damaged net and time spent fixing it.

I don't think he would have started a tow there, unless he was going to tow the bay for flats for pot bait & I can't see that happening .

I noticed there was a heck of a lot coming in that night before I bumped into you guys in the car park. I guess they must have off-loaded and headed straight back out. Coulda been a problem with his gear, seems odd to have shot a net on the exit between the piers with the amount of junk there probably is down there.
