had a phone call from a cousin walking dogs along cambois beach, the dogs came across 2 large fish that he had never seen, went down and one was well savaged by whatever but the other was fresh as a daisy still had sea lice on.probs about 4lb,what a shame loverly fish.what causes these to beach themselves and die is a shame.didnt have camera so no photos, shame as it was a bar of silver.

I don't think anyone really knows why they do it - they just do, bit like whales and dolphins beaching I think. Strange

Perhaps the Germans put them there, bit like towels on sun loungers by the pool......

one theory is that they follow a warm current to our shores and when they come right in because of their shape they can't swim properly in shallow water and they flop over and are washed ashore.

ehh flop over??.strange.but could happen.maybe its chasing fish and as its too shallow it skims then plonk owa it gans,it had sea lice.thought these were only on salmon and sea trout.must admit caught an undersized codling and a was sure it too had sea lice.
