Roker pier produced a cod of 8.5lb for Stu Carr, one of 8-11-0 for Trevor Green and one of 7.4lb for Anth Curtis. Bob Gascoigne fished South Shields pier for nine cod to 4 1/2lb. One of the best flounders for a long time came from the Wear, Joe Wilton taking one of 3lb. Brian Pattinson took the top three places in the Friarage Sweepstake with cod of 9-5-0, 5-15-0, and a personal best whiting of 1-10-0. Steve Harriman won Ryhope’s match with a cod of 6.2lb from the Targets, Ian Peacock took two cod for 11.26lb, best 7.55lb to win Seaham’s Coronation Cup, Dave hood Seaton Sluice’s match with 3 cod for 11-5-0, the best of 6-2-0 taken by Barry Tweddle from the Needles eye. Dave Cruddas taking a cod of 8-6-0 in Seaton Sluices match at Arbroath.Alan
