I attended a meeting of the Community Action Angling Group yesterday (19th January). I was glad to see that there were more than two sea anglers present at this meeting. Elected as Chairman was Ian Woods of Game Fishing Supplies, Morpeth. The completion of the election of the full Committee will be made at next month's meeting of the Northumberland Group, which will be on Tuesday, 16th March at the Concordia Centre, Cramlington.
The next meeting of the Tyne & Wear Group will be at 7.0 pm on Thursday, 4th March 2010. I will give you further details and address of venue nearer the date.
A seperate Group is to be formed in Durham and another on Teesside. Dates, times and venues have not been arranged as yet, but I will notify you as soon as they are.
The aims and objectives of these Groups is to promote angling for people of all ages and abilities. To promote the educational aspect of our sport to anglers and non-anglers. To support the National Development for Angling. To provide support, guidance and funding applications for angling clubs, coach training and licencing and to work with the National Bodies and Local Authority Sports Development Teams.
Membership of the Groups is open to angling and non-angling organisations with similar aims and objectives. It will also include Local Authority Sports Development Officers. There are no membership fees.
