  • Access to Blyth pier

Whats the options available fishing Blyth pier. Can you take your car past the barrier or do you have to walk from the car park opposite Fergusons, If so, is there much bother from the local toe rags attacking cars etc. Any comments appreciated.

    pier parking

think you have to be member of yacht club to get passed the barrier. Fished the pier loads of times over the years and have always parked opposite fergusons and never had any trouble with leaving the car parked there. You could just fish the pipe which is next to the car park thru the hole in the wall if you are worried about leaving your car.

I can't say that there is never a problem as four cars had their windows smashed one night a few years ago but that is the only time I have seen any trouble and I have parked there a hell of a lot over the years.

I was told a few weeks ago that you have to apply for a pass from the Port of Blyth authorities even if you have a Blue disability card Darren. I contacted them through Email but they just ignored me

The main trouble used to be when the welsley (naughty boys) school was opposite the South Harbour.
When that went, so did a lot of trouble around the area.

Never heard of anything broken into etc for a long time.

For those that have not been for a couple of years, the gate has moved from where it was, it is now just after the fork in the road.
The left fork goes into fergusons etc and has a gateman on, the right fork leads to Watsons & the pier and has no gateman on.
The gate is now setup with some sort of electronic card or tag system, so if you have the said card or tag in your vehicle, it automatically opens as you drive upto it.

Cheer's for that Taffy, it would be appreciated. Even just a name of who I need to contact about it would do mate.

Your probably right about the Welsley dazzer as I haven't seen or heard of a problem for a long time now. Sometimes a few younguns drinking at the back of the beach in the grass but I've never seen or even heard of them bothering anyone, that's just on warmer nights though, they won't be there at the moment

you'd be surprised at just how much heat a burning car gives off

In answer to the thread I've never had any trouble parking there and have only ever heard of isolated incidents like what has been said already

i spoke to the security guard on the gate a few weeks ago and he said that you have to apply to the port of blyth for a pass to get into the yacht club.....spent 5 mins chatting to the guard he then let me park my car infront of the security box on the white lines......
dont park on the side of the road as the harbour master is apparently getting cars removed!
if the barrier is open then just drive in as you dont need a code to get out as the barrier automatically opens when you drive up to it on the way out!
