Help with dabs

am lookin t catch some dabs from the shore anywhere between the tyne n blyth as dont have transport any help with marks,tides,bait be much apreseated

i know its not on the coast but i fish just up from the swing bridge in newcastle just underneath the metro bridge i usually get loads.

Beach next to the black middens (not sure of its name) usually throws out some nice dabs mate or as already said up the river from spillers upwards has a good few

Usually just called "The fish quay sands" as far as I know.

Are you wanting to catch them to eat? they taste like mud if ya get 'em from the river so be warned!

yeh am lookin for pot like had them from the shops n wonderd if i could catch any that way get best of both wrlds

try the business park at newcastle ive caught loads
or try opposite vickers at blaydon
also ive noticed that your also from lemington

i dont think ya will get many dabs in the rivers flounders yes but very few dabs

If you join one of the clubs that fish Tynemouth Pier you'll get dabs mate. Good luck.

hi steppey, we as young guns used to take lots of dabs from a very long lower tyne north side stone jetty! at all times of the year in all weathers, however i dont think ive seen a one caught as far up as the fish quay in all my 38yr fishing extravaganza, i hope you connect soon korky.

me and me mate had 2 dabbs of the walkway last week(tuesday)bit of a fluke as we didnt know for sure what they were.

blyth pier

blyth pier m8 loads gud size aswel throw towards sluice not into river tho was down last nite 2 lads had them nearly evetry chuck using rag tiped with mackerel m8 use small hooks tho and dnt go over top with baits small baits.

dabs like good claen sandy bottoms, best two venues you will find round here is Blyth pier and Rocky Island, you might also get a handful off one of the open beaches. Clubs that fish Tynemouth pier also get quite a few. Small hooks are needed and bait with worm or fish strip at times mussel is a good bait. Calmish conditions I have found the best, but have also caught when a little chop on the water with quite abit of colour in it, that is when mussel comes into it's own.
