  • cambois advice needed

a few of us are going to travel up to cambois on thur/fri. I have had a look on google maps and there looks to be some sort of pier there. Are you allowed to fish from it. Is it easily accessable? Is there any particular mark on there we should be aiming for?
    Any advice greatly appreiciated

Hi mate, there is a pier there and although people do fish it they are not supposed to. Access is not that easy and can change from time to time due to the authorities trying to stop access as it can be very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing and where you are going.

Remember, if the sea gets up while you are on there you might not be able to get back off, not a place to go by yourselves when you haven't been before.

If you are still planning on fishing the Cambois area on Thursday or Friday, check the sea conditions first as there are some south easterly winds forecast which could make a lot of the area unfishable.

There have been enough accidents lately we don't want any more.

    Jim.

Thanks for the advice. I seen the post regarding sneeking over a fence and through a gate thats now been removed. I 'd rather just fish on the beach if it's illegal to fish the pier. Any beach marks at cambois that are worth a mention?

If you are going at high tide I would try the Bins at Cambois, just follow the road until you come to the railway and turn right. The road is not too good so take your time, park on the top of the bank before you go down towards Cambois pier and there is a good hole to cast into for a good two hours either side of high. Not sure about Cambois beach during the day, although you can get some decent flat's from there and also the odd Bass. Park in the car park opposite the Buccaneer pub and walk onto the beach I used to like about 200yards along to the right of the entrance to the beach. High water just try different casts both long and short to see what you can find, low water keep it close in as there are a lot of holes.

Just thought though, you might have quite a bit of fresh water coming down from the river which won't help a lot. You could try the bottom of the ramp though at the south end of the beach. When you cross the railway line towards the Bins, turn left and you will see the ramp down to the beach. Check the sea before you go though, if it is big you probably won't be able to fish the beach at all.

Best of luck wherever you try.

        Jim.

Number 68 on here mate, The Silo's

Map multiple locations, get transit/walking/driving directions, view live traffic conditions, plan trips, view satellite, aerial and street side imagery. Do more with Bing Maps.

                cambois

the ramp is well worth a look but keep an eye on the waves. Quite sheltered depending on wind direction.Hoping to fish the beach on thurs or fri teatime. usually we park in car park under the railway bridge that is straight over the roundabout next to the shop and its just a short walk on to the beach.
