  • Word of warning,Mudhole,whitburn

    Check this out lads,the lad who was fishing it asked me to post on other sites as a word of warning to all that are thinking of fishing the mudhole soon or in the future;

    Fished the mudhole this afternoon and noticed the cliff to the right if you are looking towards roker has started to fall into the sea in about 3 places,as i was fishing about 10 ton of soil fell down onto the beach,i know some lads sometimes fish off the grass bank there and cast straight out into the mudhole,there is not much left of that ledge now.
    The sea was nowhere near the cliffs when this landslide happened,the mudhole itself seems pretty solid but have a look in daylight before you go down after dark.
    just a word of caution lads

      I wouldn't fancy fishing below the cliffs never mind the top if they are that dangerous. Thanks for the warning hope everybody takes heed of it.

          Alan, the part of Mudhole that is crumbling is the grassy/clay bits, not a shear drop and not a cliff as such and this has been a problem for many years, those that fish there regularly are well aware of problem however just because its not a shear drop care should always be taken wehter your an exoerienced angler around theses parts or not.
          If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

            only fished the place once Terry, many moons ago in one of the comps, couldn't remember exactly what it looked like, but can remember the mud. Your right, we should all be extra vigilant now, we have seen what can happen, hope we have had the last of the accidents.

              I asked fishingfantastico to post this link to other websites,as a caution to other anglers not as a way to promote another website as you have suggested.

              If i see a lot of soil falling from cliffs at a mark which anglers use on a regular basis then i am duty bound to let anglers know about this by whatever means,especially given recent events.

              As said on the previous post a lot of soil fell from the area yesterday,which does seem to happen every year,just a caution to anyone who does fish that side of the mudhole,the area does look unstable at the moment.
              Cheers
              Chris

              Ps..........No i never caught anything
