  • Accident on steetly

I have just read a thread on WSF, apparently a guy has fallen down in to the pump house on the end of the pier

I dont know how true this is but i thought i would post it on here to see if anyone knew anything about it, if it is true i hope the guy is ok.

This has just been posted on WSF by bob c

It is correct. A guy has fallen into the Pump Housing & the Fire Brigade,Ambulance service,Mountain Rescue & 2 Helicopters are on the scene. Reports say Broken Back,Pelvis & Legs but dont know how anyone would know at this stage.
This is an accident that has been waiting to happen for some time.
I was on there till about 6pm & had looked down that hole as my mates were fishing over it. Horrendous. My mates left & this guy moved into that spot & fell.
Could be the end of Steetly now.

ah right, just saw that post as well.

i hope he is found, dosnt look good that, you dont survive long in the north sea with normal gear on , scary enough with all the gear on when i did my offshore training.

also hope the guy mentioned on this post recovers.

its not good all of this bad news so early in the year.

i hope everyone takes care when they go out from now on, dont take things for granted when out next, its not worth taking a risk for a fish.

I know where this will have happened, Its on the concrete round head. The scrappers took a metal disc plate covering a 5 foot diameter hole. It about 30 feet down onto the old metal workings in the pump house.
It is very very dangerous fishing there even in daylight. I avoid that spot.
                  Mick.

It'll have been weighed in for scrap like the other 40% of the site by the local tea leaves!

Thank's for the link Phil, I hope he makes a full recovery too. Very well done to the two lads that helped him, they probably saved his life.
