can i just ask a cuple of question if u have used yours? is it a clean ground rod? do u need to have a perfect action for casting out or not? i know it always helps to have a decent action but do u understand wat i mean? cheers if u respondComment

jwj, I can't really help you with how it casts as I've never had that model. I do know exactly what you mean though having had one rod that I couldn't cast to save my life. I have cast lots and lots of different rods in the years I have fished but only had one that I couldn't manage, that's one of the reasons that people will say, to see if you can try one before you buy. It is so difficult telling anyone that a certain rod is a great caster as it could be for you but not for them.

very true, everyone will find the rods different. im stil quite an amateur at the minute, trying to gather the stuff step by step. my rod is only a 12 foot shakespeare at the minute and i know people will laugh but i still catch some fish. i just think the extra foot or two will help geting that more distance, dunno what peoples thoughts are about that.
as i read somewhere on the internet. the person who can cast far always has the option of fishing close in.Comment

I certainly wouldn't laugh, my first rod was a Shakespeare Sigma Graffite. It was 13' but it was a three piece and one of the best casting rods I have had. It cost me about £80:00 in 1981 if I remember right, it was great until it was damaged and I lost about six inches from the end section
. You are dead right about a bit of distance being a handy thing, especially fishing on shallow beaches but as you say you still have the option of casting short too.
