I had a day fishing Chapel Point there last summer (while at Butlins), only got flatties 3 up 2 down but plenty of them. Was hoping for Bass and apparently throws good sized ones out occasionally.
That's as much as I know.
    Cheers.
    Michael.

The beach behind the complex is full of holes and gulleys, it looks flat and featureless until you walk it at low tide(loads of razor shells too). If you go into Skegness itself theres the pier but you have to fish it at high water as its not a long one and its dry at the end over low water.
Small tackle shop on the road to Butlins from the south about 300 yards from the main crossroads.
Theres a place north towards Ingoldmells called Fantasy Island(fairground) theres a shop on the road that sells mountains of cheap gear, mostly freshwater gear but some rods and reels for shore.
How old is the bairn? reason i ask is that there is always something going on in butlins for the younger ones and you might not have time to wet a line!
            Im there in August.

Ragworm, fish baits be your best baits for when you go just take them in a cool box to keep fresh

Skegness is my home town and have fished it from the age of 7 for a long time! having moved to Durham about 15yrs ago.......... Unfortunately April is not the a great time, some years if there is a good spring run of codling April can fish well with some mixed bags but to be honest it has been a good few years since there has been a good run! If there is a long spell of high pressure and settled there is a chance that some early hounds and always an odd thornback will show. If it has been warm and flat for a week or two then crab is by far your best bet as it will pick up hounds,Rays and codling they will usually be picked up at distance but sometimes will be found close in, bass do show all year round but are not prolific usually picked up targeting other fish, if there has been some sea on and a bit of north / north easterly on it then yellow tails and crab with a bit of squid will give you a chance.
If you plan on fishing straight off the back of butlins then it will mostly be flounders and dabs, lug for the dabs and crab for flounders, as the tide floods from low up and the gullies fill very close in at times 20yds. Hounds do show there but usually May onwards. I would recommend heading north of butlins, any where from trunch lane at Chapel St Leonards north to huttoft car terrace, lots of free parking straight through sand hills and onto beach, a bit like druridge bay.

                  Hope that helps

                  Cheers dave

Been going skeggy for yrs buddy,me old man/lady has a caravan at chaple
Flatties galore, bass, doggie's,n the chance of a good thornie in settled weather, can be a flattie venue at this time of yr till the hounds move in a bit later in the year, big un's at that.....
Like dave said chance of codling n the typical mixed bag that you get at this time of year, good sport can be had on light gear(conti type rod's,rather than the pokers)flapper's for your bits(dabs etc)up n over's or pulley's for the bigger stuff, think crab n fresh lug, will do the damage, prob fish better from low till high water n if there's a sea on,a very good chance of a bass or three
Best of luck dwn there mukka
