chaps, in my wheeling and dealing ive aquired an original conoflex scorpion sport from the early 2000s. It seems around 13ft. But i cant find any info on it on the net, only the new scorpion s. So, have any of you owned one of the originals? If so was it a all out rock rod or mixed/heavy beach? What did it cast up to? And what did you think of them?. Giving it a poke on the ceiling, it really beefs up after the glass tip, so im hoping its in the mould of the beloved Highlander, a rock/kelp slayer. G

scorpion sport
I bought one new about 96 had it about 5year I think, great rod for the likes of Hauxley, Cullercoates, and lifting fish up piers and clifftops. I would agree with most of what the above says but a beach rod in my opinion it wasn't, I tried many a time with it on blyth only for the tip to rip the sinker from it's anchorage and wash downtide. I thought it a fairly heavy tool for the materials used though it may have something to do with the blank wall thickness and if you mis-time your cast a little it'll bite your arse. And by the way it's got more grunt than the highlander. Al
