  • Howick help

Anyone any ideas if the beach at Howick is fishing and any advice on tactics and baits would be appreciated......thinking about heading down there at the weekend.

    Cheers in advance

i presume when you say the beach you mean down to the right (south)? sugar sands and the howdiment? all i know is if you hit them right they can be good, your fishing into mixed ground and also kelp so id use the standard rough ground tackle, if the sea drops off enough you can get out onto the rocks to the right which is a good shot. but be carefull as the tide can move in quickly on the flood. defo try the small beaches first tho, heard of some decent fish from this area.

Fished Howick Haven afew weeks ago and it was just full of small coalies..Did end up with one small cod about 1 1/2lb.There had been a cracking sea, and with it being a spring expected some good fish, but to no avail. Lads up this way seem to be struggling, as only 3 anglers from ASAC managed to catch in their club match on Sunday, even after that great sea.
