Again by Elton on the NESA Homepage.

Is anyone from our area planning to go to any of the meetings next week. If I am able I will be going but I have my doubts that I will be able to make it

This is really as important as article 47 was, I am sure this could affect every part of our fishing in certain area's from bait collection to the actual fishing itself.

I am sure that none of us (or very few) know very much about this at all, which tells me that lots of information is not been given out, or at least put where we can easily find it.

What would happen if our area became a Marine Conservation Zone? Would we be allowed to fish any more? Would we be permitted to collect bait any more? Just imagine an area from say Tynemouth to Blyth where there was no fishing allowed. Or south of the Tyne From South Shields to Seaham. Bird watchers wouldn't mind it being on their doorstep, so it's not like we would get any support from them

I have just done a google on MCZ, Mad Catz Interactive inc sounds about right. It is actually there if you google uk pages only, but only old information from April 2009 from The Angling Trust.

I haven't a clue what the answers to these questions would be which is one of the reasons I would like to go.

    Jim.

I attended the last meeting and the MCZs don't affect shore anglers. I shouldn't even really affect pleasure boat anglers a great deal by what they were saying but will have an impact on commericals.

Cheer's for that Mog but I'm not so sure if that will be the case, especially when you read this paragraph from their press release.

By working with groups such as sea anglers, fishermen and divers, the team at Net Gain aim to build an accurate picture of how the sea is used and present these groups and individuals with a unique opportunity to shape the sustainable future of the North Sea.

It looks as though there is no chance of me going, the way the weather is at the moment unfortunately.
