Hello lads just caught my first codling of 2010 fished Horden Mechanics club comp at dene holme 3pm till 8pm.At the start of the comp 1st cast was only in the water for two minutes and it looked like someone had hung their washing out from my rod, there was seaweed eveywhere.Thought to myself here we go another blank session due to weed.
I had cracking bait fresh yellow tail, fresh razor, fresh rag and peeler. After 2 hours wrestling with the weed trying to get my gear back in i moved further north towards the blocks.I tried a variety of cocktail baits to no avail.
Then mic who was fishing next to me told me to put a rag worm on that was huge it would of attracted a great white 14"in length
, so on it went.
I cast it out and thought to myself leave it out for 45mins it would take that long to wash out.Then at 6.50pm my rod was banging like hell, picked it up still banging and struck praying it was'nt weed on the line again,in it came a codling YIPEE.
Well chuffed with myself afte so many sessions blanking ( 7 ) and finally something to go with my chips and mushy peas. To top it off at the weigh in i got heaviest fish 4lb 10oz. I'm hoping this luck continues as i'm going back down tommorrow with my brother because i've still got loads of bait left. I'll let you know how we get on tommorrow.
