I have a CME also and it's probably my favourite rod for most winter fishing, don't think I've done 200 on it..doubt I'd be far off with a 5oz after a few practise chucks though.
Look forward to our casting session anyway bud, should get you enough distance with plenty to spare, you have PM"In order to becomes old and wise, first you must be young and stupid."

I'd keep it at £150 aswell, just the wrong time of year to be selling isnt it. Think smallfry is going to pop up to Peterlee and have a chuck with my CME sometime see if he likes it...mind you at £150 you could buy it now and if you dont like it sell it on, you certainly wont lose any money on it.
I agree with Chukka about getting lessons from an experienced tournament caster if you want to take it serious. I'm just offering the lad here an easy and free way to guarantee 100 yards minimum every time simply by using the correct starting position. I've helped a few lads go from dancing and thrashing a 50 yard cast to at least double their distance with much less effort just by correctly positioning their lead to body.
I always say theres no reason why anyone shouldnt be casting 100 yards+ with a 5/6oz everytime and if your not getting this distance then your doing something very wrong.
As for professional casters currently giving lessons - big up to Peter Thain from me. When I first went to him I had a spool of 175m, first cast OTG and it was nearly all off. He works at anglers united Lynemouth if anyone needs to contact him.Last edited by LiamNE; 17-03-2015, 11:22 AM.Best shore catch 2016 - 7.5lb cod, Seaton Carew!
