Not sure if that's a one I could answer without seeing it happen Johnny. Does it crack when it snaps or does it just come apart quietly? Have you just started using a shockleader or did you use one with your Abu reels as well?

Just a guess Johnny but it sounds like your knot could be catching on the rings. As I say anyone could possibly tell you but they would have to see it happen. Make sure your leader knots are trimmed nice and small and neat but don't trim them so far back that they could undo.
It could be something to do with your casting too if you are new to multiplyers mate, most of us have been through this in the past lol. Sometimes I could go out and cast really well all night and other nights my timing would be a bit off and I would end up doing the same as you. Keep practicing, it is worth it, honestly lol. As you say, you still have a spare reel with you so if it does nest at least you can carry on fishing.
Nowt wrong with fixed spool reels either mind, with practice you can hit some good distances with them too. Just ask some of the casting lads.

Not saying it's definately that mind Johnny but it could help a bit. Just try and keep it nice and smooth and don't try to hit it too hard until you get used to it more, that used to be one of my biggest problems years ago

it sounds t me its just the way your doin ur not wrong tri diferent ones and see whot hapens or tri 30lb main and 60shok coz the to main might cut into the 60lb or tri a thiner shock leader a no a lot of people that use a slosh30 and just use 30lb with no shock leader

Shockleader is a pain in the arse when fishing rocks ect, i stopped using it long time ago. Lost many good fish off Cliff marks and rocks where it snapped at the knot i just use 35lb straight through, 40lb rig line and 35lb hook snood and rotten bottems.

Just a long shot Johnny, but check your rod ring inserts mainly the tip and the ones at the top of your rod, if any are damaged, your line will snap as soon as the pressure of a cast touches the cracked insert. Other than that when you tie your leader knot, make sure you lube it up with a bit of "geordie foreplay" before you pull everything up tight.
