Come across him a few times Terry. I always know when it's him, because there is never any wind blowing, yet you can hear a tin can being kicked along the beach, so i only fish those beaches on the windy nights. .
The best one was on the end of s/s pier about 30 yrs ago. Me and a mate were the only ones on the end on the short wall, when an old man came along and rested his pushbike against the rails about 30 ft away, and using a handline just by the steps, he pulled three fish in over the rail in only a couple of minutes, ( they were all about 6/7 lbs ) put them in the panniers on his bike and moved away back down the pier. Me and Brian just looked at each other in disbelief, carried on fishing , and never spoke about it again. what i remember was, there was no moon and it was really dark but you could still make him out,and he made no noise at all. I dont believe in ghosties but.
Jim, when the old man left i bet you didnt see him leave and also you would not have seen him riding his bike down the pier, he would have been there one minute and gone the next without a trace.
He's been seen by many over the years, some say it was one of the old time lighthouse keepers.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !
I wasn't there this night but was told by T.C. and Ian that they were fishing Shields pier and someone walked past them towards the end and he had no shoes on. As the night passed and more people left Tony asked how many were left on the end and a couple of lads said that there was no one left as they had been the last. Tony and Ian made their way to the end to continue their fishing and sure enough there was no one else there and they are both sure he didn't come back past them. I think they were fishing at the rail end.
Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Come across this one before when fishing the 44. Seen the guy (or whatever it was) but never seen him leave, just seemed to disappear. Proper freaked me out at the time.
Also had an 'experience' on Marsden beach by the rock, three of us there. Other two left, about 5mins later heard footsteps crunching the shingle but no one there, other two were half way up the steps at the time. I'd caught them up by the time they'd reached the top.
