  • penn 525 anti reverse problem

Just after advise or seeing if anyone else has had this happen with their 525.
The anti-reverse (to stop the handle and spool winding in the opposite direction) is controlled by means of an anti-reverse rolller bearing (the blue one) located in the gear plate housing.

I've read that they can suffer from holding to much oil or grease and can cause "slippage" between the roller and the steel collar that inserts into it. People have suggested that a flush with lighter fuel and a light re-oil/grease should sort this problem but my 525 supermag seems to be getting worse if anything.
The steel collar that inserts into the roller bearing seems to be a tolerance fit and just wondered if it could suffer from wear or is the roller bearing shot?

I used to get parts from Ewan (only does services now) when he worked for Penn but I know they shut the Scottish service centre and can't remember where they relocated.

Thanks in advance for any advise.
