on the jettys at hebburn marina at 9/15 hopeing for some cod and did i get some, oohhh yes, seven in total until 11 oclock then it went compleatly dead not a bite,me bait was coming back just as it went in but a bit wetter.12 oclock came and decided to have a go at church bank for a change of action.
on the way there spoke to some lads fishing on the marina and they only had small codling out, fished until 3 oclock n some one had pinched all the fish ,not one cought by me and the other lads fishing, most unussual not like church bank to throw up a couple of flattys or w ting .ah well,oh did i not mention all the codling i cought were all undersized 12 inches the biggest ,put em all back safely so they come back when there bigger, i should have known better never two weeks the same.
    bait used lugg,rag,n prawns.

the fish were feeding off the worm yesterday didnt want nowt to do with the prawns, was a different story 2 weeks ago though going stright on with no regard to the worm baits.

A friend of mine used to use them on Blyth beach and caught some decent fish with them. I don't think I ever got a bite with them

Another mate used Sandeel quite a bit to tip the Lug, which also worked well for him. I have had them drop out of a Cods mouth and still be flopping about on the sand, tipped my bait off with them and never ever had a touch with them and that was when every Cod caught was stuffed with Sandeel. Just the way it goes I suppose and the more baits you have the better chance you have.

        Jim.

Welcome to NESA edd, good to see there are still plenty of fish in the Tyne, even if they are small.
