Its right in a way what Willy said-it just goes to show the expert anglers with all the flash baits don,t always win the compos. I wish i could have made it down today but was on earlies.
Portland 3 hook scratching rig would have been the set up-casting 40 yards.
I,ll remember this for next year.

Funny you should say rag and mackerel. I had clam crab and yellow tails but the rag and mackerel got me my only fish. A flatty half a pound (which won me a new sundridge suit!!), I also got a rockling plaice and cloalie but all undersize. Not bad for a 28cm flatty. Was well annoyed at first as got a good pier peg but got kicked off after 5 mins with the sea only splashing over so went to Hall beach to scratch about.

Not good was it! I won't be rushing back down there for a pleasure session in the near future! It makes me realise how good it is North of the Tyne at the mo (and it's not great), then again it was prob just one of those days.

Only codling i seen caught off Hordon was the lad inbetween us! lol. Nice to see u pick up a decent prize mate.

There was a massive bout of high pressure prior to the event on the sat and into sunday. Must have had an effect on the fishing because the sea looked nice and plenty of colour in the water.
