Just posted this tip on another post, but thought Id give it its own.
Like Coops I have a headlamp withthe battery pack on back of headband.
To convert it I bought a £5.99 rechargeable 50 billion candlepower( orsomething) searchlight from a DIY shop, stripped it for the Battery. and connected the battery via a twin core wire to the Battery compartment in the headlamp.spade connectors connect the battery . battery goes in pocket. Charged by the unit inthe searchlight.Usually in the handle. easy as pie.
Had to buy a 6v Bulb. Tried tackle shops, but got it in a mountain centre.
Total conversioncost less than £12. and a lamp as bright as youll ever need. Lasts hours on one charge.
