the main beam on the petzl myo 5 isn\'t as bright as the MFA I used to have have but as has been mentioned b4...you don\'t need to be guiding an aircraft in to land or substituting the local lighthouse. It p***es me off when you turn to talk to someone with a tiga and then spend the next ten mins tripping over coz you can\'t see a thing.
The LEDs are cracking. The lads were calling me a mountain goat as I sped off across the rocks with just the LED\'s on.

      Hi Coops.
I have a petzl typeish headlemp with the square battery on the back.BUT It wasnt really great. what I did...
Not sure where you live, but No Frills DIY on the old coast road at benton, sells a rechargeable 6v Searchlight, for about £6.99 maximum. Loads ofthese cheap shops sell them.
I simply stripped one, removed the battery and bought a 6v halogen bulb from a mountaineering shop in Newcastle. converted it with a simple jackplug and twin cable from any DIY shop.
It is really bright, and the battery lasts hours.
Recharge it by using the charger diode from the searchlight.
Its a doddle mate. absolute piece of P***.
As good as any lamp youd pay £60 for.
email me if you not sure Ill take a pic of it and send it you.
Maker and inventor of CANNYLINKS, the best rotten bottom system bar none. IMHO!

Tiga SL85 for me, heavy battery but a canny light on it.

Just bought a Ron Thompson 1, 3 or 8 led light as a back up/at mark light, only takes 3 AAA batteries and next to no space.

Use the Tiga for clambering over the rocks and then the RT when at me fishing spot.

I used to use a carry case for the battery of the Tiga, but now just have it in the side pocket of me rucksack, makes carrying easier and more comfortable
As my dad used to say....Man who go to bed with itchy bum......wake up with stinky finger!!!

You\'ve got the neck for it though Sless

Andy Rutherfords got this thing on display in his shop, it\'s the size and weight of an LED job £179 and outperforms Tiga / Samalite types apparently.

That is a very bold claim! Saying that, for the price of a car headlight it should be good!

for the brightness go for the tiga SL85
battery is half the weight of the tiga sl10 and u dont even know u have it on and it will light up a rod tip 100 mtrs away
3 hrs to charge from flat and u can get between 6-8 hrs depending on which beam u have on

best part of £200 but worth it if u are going to get the usage out of it

                      canny fault it one bit

Aye Rich, but it\'s the size of a premiership footballers wris****ch, large for a watch but tiny for a floodlight.
