evening all, fished riverside park at walker over low water last night, 6.30- till10 with my 10 yr old son, it was a fish a chuck mainly small up to half lb codling "all returned of course" i also had a couple of good sized whitings when i packed up my tally was 32 fish, lug doing most of the damage although i got a few on rag. was wondering if anyone else has been enjoying the spoils of late, or was this a one off perhaps something to do with all the current dredging operations further down river. anyway its great for the bairns as the rods were knocking all the time great sport!

Tyne Dredger
Aye, I've also had dozens of tommy codling upriver from the dredger on the flood tide.
The excavations certainly aren't doing any harm at the minute.
Was talking to an officer from the Environment Agency on the same subject after I reported an oil-spill in the lower estuary. He said the E.A. were closely monitoring the dredging operation especially with regard to the effects on migratory fish but so far everything was as clean as a whistle.
Incidentally, the oil spill was a big-un and it originated on the South side between the old 'Brighams' jetties and the 'Walkway'. They are still investigating it.
