when to pull my mate out of the mud last night on horden, soft get had gone the wrong route, just got him out when theres smoke and one terrible smell, looks like some twa*s had set a car alight in the carpark above the beach, saw one angler going off the beach towards it, what more annoyed me was when i got there theres another 4*4 on the banks, mate said they arrived after they got bogged down drove past and did not offer to help, not that i went to help is annoying me, the fact another angler made no attempt to offer help, i have pulled a few guys out of a mess down there, a few lads on here have my mobile number in case they get stuck - i have thiers as well, seriously makes me now think twice if i see another angler in obvious trouble about offering help

Fished Horden up at deneholm last night, ...not a bite, saw the burnt out wreck, in the car park area,....could be genuine or could be insurance con, but hope it didnt belong to any of the lads fishing.... heard the bank has given way to the north end of the beach, on another thread, its dodgy taking any 4x4 on the beach now especially at night ..glad to hear he got out ok, but people and society are becoming more selfish by the day, it seems you just got to totally rely on yourself and your mates now...shame but thats the way its going.

I was at Horden at 4pm on Sat, mine was the only car there checkin out the beach for the Open.
Got to Horden at half 8 to be meet with white seas and a howling NEerly, plus a burnt out 2 door mazda like car, not the sort that would fit some rods and a tripod in.
Just don't leave your car there during the dark.

If you in problems down there you can ring me and I would travel to help no bother mate.
We must not let this affect what we would do to help others.

The amount of anglers fishing Horden/Deanholme it's a pity that anglers can't
use the car park at the bottom of the Deanholme.
But I agree with you its not safe because you risk the chance of your car being torched.
What happens is this threat stops the disabled and elderly fishing this great
beach because it's to far for them to walk up and down from the safety of the housing estate.
I would suggest that if the blocks at the bottom of the Deanholme car park were removed and a bit hardstanding was made closer to the beach say on the flat area below the walkway, cars parked there would be a lot safer because its alot closer to the beach.Anglers fishing close by could keep a eye on the cars so this would let lots of other people to use this beach not only anglers but twitches and walkers .Also the arseh@les causing the problems would hopefully keep away.
It would need input totally from the local council but it would be refreshing for them to think" take down walls not build them up".
Just my thoughts mind you.

when burt was still alive he was telling me that money and planning was once in place to have this lower carpark, for some reason it never went ahead
yeah your right there harry, bit of anger that the mate had been left floundering, then as i got him out the proof of why you cant leave your car safe came right in my face, we have three car parks for the beach and none are safe parking, there are a fair few oap`s and disabled anglers out there that no doubt would love to fish a lot of these marks, but wont for fear of thier cars being damaged and the walk from a safe place is out of the question, ideal if your situation is like codbiters, mine is not as my partner has not passed her test, being over 50 now with a knackered chest rules hiking with gear out for me as well now
if there is such a thing as karma then perhaps next time these one braincell morons torch something they will end up burnt themseves, i for one would not miss them

Mike i for one have already thrown the offer of taking anyone down onto the beach on any session that i make myself, preferably blokes like you say that could not possibly fish the mark due to health reasons or whatever. If some other 4x4 drivers also offered to do the same maybe we could get a little thing going on a thread where it would open up the whole mark to likeminded anglers that just might have some clout in other areas, be it a lorry load of dolomite here and there or a case of taking flag stones down on every trip, just an idea. It is a massive beach and its not as if it would overcrowd it in anyway taking an extra body or two down.
