Could happen to anyone even a good angler snapping off and hitting someone with a lead, the lad my have not been a "nugget". I am shocked more anglers dont get hurt both in winter and mainly summer from flying leads and end tackle.
Sounds like he is doing ok anyway if he fished and won the comp
