  • St Peter's Basin Saturday afternoon

Just got back from a short session at St Peter's Basin, fished from 15:45 until 19:45, a few fishermen were out and about and mainly small stuff, codling and 'flatties' were being caught, tide worked my line and 6oz like a second hand on a clock but rather than attempt to hold the bottom l was happy for it to 'bob' along the bottom. The wind cut down the Tyne, seaward, and the Siberian bite was not lessened by its passage over Scotland, making a mockery of my ancient flotation suit, by the time l peeled myself off the fence to go home l was raw to the bone. Most of my fish succumbed to rag, the lug not being that tempting, (apparently), and although small I did not blank and had a 2 1/2 cod in the bunch. A good afternoon out better than sitting in
