  • Dumfries & Galloway

Going to Gatehouse of Fleet for 4 nights at new year with the wife & dog.
Stopping in a B & B at Gatehouse & was hoping someone might suggest fishing areas to check out. Not sure if the wife is keen on me taking my sea fishing tackle but if not I can check various spots out for the next time.
    Thanks
    Brian
I will only be out for a couple of hours pet.

    Mull of Galloway

The only place I can suggest is the mull of galloway. I've fished there on 3 or 4 occasions, all of which were in the summer but because of the depth of water I'm sure there'll be fish there in the winter. Species caught were LSD, Pollock, Mackerel in summer and the lads fishing next to me had a couple of conger.
I parked at the lighthouse and walked back down through the fields to the left. There are a few marks within 10-15 minutes of the car park, but you'll need a good pair of walking boots as the path down is pretty steep.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Brian, you could always have a drive to Port William on the East side of Luce Bay. There is a small Concrete pier that you can get your car along and fish in comfort. It's only a high water shot and I've only ever fished it in May so not sure what it will be like in winter. Usual Dogfish and Pollack from there.

      Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.
