Codman56, please do not use language like that on the forum again.

Drof46, how do you know about these "squads"? I fished comps for quite a period and never ever heard them being mentioned. I was also a member of a local fishing club for a couple of years and never heard them mentioned there either. What exactly would be the reason, or the reward for people to do this? If what you say is true it certainly couldn't be for the prize they would get. Maybe a rod or a reel, maybe even both if they were lucky. They wouldn't get much selling them second hand and shared between at least three or four, that would go down considerably. Besides that, you say they patrol the boundaries searching for somewhere quiet to fish. Unless they get free fuel they would also have that to pay for, that's without even mentioning bait for three or four people.

I would also say that it is also not guarranteed for the "squad" to catch anything either, once again cutting down on a chance of a prize and pushing up the cost of the scam.

I can't for one moment think it would be worth someones's time and money to do all of this, just for an outside chance of twenty or maybe thirty quid.

I don't doubt for one moment that there are a few individuals out there looking to cheat and get their fifteen minutes, but they are few and far between.

          Jim.
The individuals to whom I'm referring would sell their Granny for a chance at the £750 first prize at The Northumberland Open.

It's not so much what they are likely to gain that motivates them it's just that they like putting one over on 'normal' folk.

As I stated earlier, most anglers ARE honest and these toe-rags ARE few and far between but, all bull...t aside, they still exist.

I could introduce you to one of them tonight but it would do no good, he'd only deny it!

some people camp out on good marks and some marks you do get people at silly oclock. unless they have knocked it on the head you should be able to pre reg in n.e.t.s. or in rutherfords shortly.

to get back to the original question, yes there is a registration card and you need to get some one to sign it if you catch a size fish , prefrably a steward ,but if you cant find one ask an angler near you to sign the card for you. the club runs and holds an honest comp which relies mostly on anglers being honest and if they see anything that they think is not right report it , it will be looked in to and if any one is caught breaking the rules they will be dealt with .support the club and the open comps by entering the comp and hopfully catching fish and winning 1 of the great prizes on offer .

I would love and i mean really love to pull out my first doubler on this compo.

Main reason is i,ve never had a one and the second to win a prize.

                  Mick.
