  • Ryhope Info Required

Took the dog to check out Ryhope dene as I have not fished there for about 30 years. Is it best fished at high or low water ? & after you walk down the track is it best to go left of the ramp or to the right ?
    Ryhope dene approach.

View to left of ramp (North).

    View to the right (South).

I will probably pay another visit with the dog just to check it out at low water with a view to trying a night time session.
    Any help welcome.

I will only be out for a couple of hours pet.

This was one of my favourite haunts, had many a good session there. Fish it two hours up to high water. On clear frosty nights fishing from the jetty a 50 yard lob to the left positioned about 10 o clock will bring good bags of whiting and the odd cod.

To the right of the pipe about 30-40yds is a bit rough ground this can throw up lots of rockling and the odd cod when theres a good sea running.

There is also a bit of a gully runs along the pipe on the right, this can produce.

Can you still get a car turned round down there?

Thats not the dene mate, thats the village.
The dene is a mile south from there.
      This is the dene entrance.

It fishes 2 up 2 down from the cliffs either side of the dene.
This is what you will be fishing onto.

fished the dene for the first time last year after looking on google earth, was planning on fishing the north side but it was out of bounds. Looked like it had a similar hole to that of the target further north at Ryhope. Wouldnt mind a shot in a good northerly, looks like it would produce.
The mark in the first set of pics is the ramp, i prefer fishing the cliffs north of this mark, Hill 60 being my favourite, chucking just to the southside of the 2 rocks in your pic that shows the beach to the left of the ramp.

the dene also fishes over low water off the rocks to the left for cod and coalies , to the right on the sand for bass , cod and coalies . to the right of the village there is a skeer of rocks that you can fish over low water ,watch out as you can get cut off by the rising tide.

The furthest point you can see in the bottom left pic is where the Manhole rocks are.
These are fishable 2 hours either side of low water.
Watch the tide when it starts to flood as you can become trapped on the beach.
