  • Penn Supermag fault.

When servicing the reel yesterday noticed the plastic side plate where the magnets are has cracked again. Fortunatly not on the magnets so hopefully will not affect performance.
Bit peed off cos this is the second time this ha happened-first time covered by guarantee.
I,m sitting here wishing i had bought an Abu 6500 Mag instead.

    Penn fault

Hello Mick, Im no expert but i think as has been previously mentioned elsewhere, take the smaller top screw off, the one behind the cover plate its only screwed into the body of the reel not into a metal sleve,as are the other three this could be causing a stress point. I moved mine after buying a brand new mag extra after reading about it. I bought a well looked after second hand supermag ( none knobbly )and this never had it in either.

Also dont know if this could be an issue, some of the supplied spare magnets are actually longer than the originals, try getting the shorter length magnets as they could be a likely cause of pressure/stress on the plate

The guarentee should still stand, send it back
