Fished 4 nights on the trott this week and what a contrast.

Tuesday, sized cod 1st chuck and also took a cod of 5lb 9oz. Great.

Wednesday fished with two mates, first chuck both mates into sized cod and I pull out an eelpout. Ended the night with 1 eelpout and an undersize codling. 1 mate had 1 sized and 2 under, other mate had 2 sized. Not so great.

Thursday, went back to this seasons most productive mark with a mate. he had 1 out just sized and I blanked. Not great at all.

Friday, fished the heugh with a mate despite wanting to fish Horden. 2 whities, 3 dabs, 1 undersize codling and a rockling. Mate had a bass, couple of dabs and a cod of 2lb 13oz. A bloke fishing next to us pulled in a dover sole on ragworm - a rarity in our part of the world.

I'm stuck on 13 cod this season and it's proving to be very unlucky. It's not through lack of trying, and the bait I've used this week would make any match angler very jealous. Fresh crab, huge fresh yellows, live blacks and razor.

My confidence is taking a bit of a battering at the minute and I seem to have found myself questioning my judgement and ability. I start work on Monday so god knows when I'm out next.

theyll come m8 just keep popping away iv 2 since my last session of 11 size cod av been out twice since then and blanked both theres fish where iv been going just non for me also used everything imaginable to never mind tho eh thats why its called fishing and not catching

there has been a few good bags so far this year but i bet there have been more blanks than enough, its just the nature of fishing now, you just have to keep at it and good luck on your job mate

I know how you feel. Yet another blank for me and phil last night despite walking about 3 mile up and down the beach trying to find the fish, still not a cod this year. Used top notch bait. every tactic you could think of and all sorts of rigs.

sean try this out av not been fishin since well my last sesh which was ages ago lol and since then ive see reports of cod cod cod by you and others so think how i feel cant wait to get out next week!!! and about your catches gettin less.. i wouldn complain since your last results!! cant win em all m8ty!

Unlucky Sean mate, ive had four sessions in the last week or so and only have a couple of coalies to show for it, probably spent a small fortune on bait aswell and the sea has even looked 'fishy'!!! Nightmare!!

Keep at it mate; had a couple of blanks myself the last two nights & last night a mate had 17 not a million miles away just got to choose the right location!

Think ya self lucky Sean, you av got 12 cod more than me, but i will keep on tryin bud! fished Blyth pier last nite along side Jamcod, he had 5 fish, 4cod 2 keepers( 1 about 3.5lb), plus 1 undersize whiting, oops 6 fish an eel as well, but i didnt blank, i got an eel! i still enjoyed me self, and meeting Jamcod

Sean it was shi-- at Felixtow last wed and thurs-hardly any cod. I went fishing again yesterday when i got back home and decided on the prom at Hartlepool (even though Seaham was screaming at me to go). The surf looked spot on for a Bass or Codling-but nowt-not even a whitey.
Crab seems to be the bait fishing in rock marks when its dark.
