i have a coleman northstar tilley, has its own ignition etc.
that comes out in the dead of winter, normally around my seat box to bait up etc.
i have a spelio fx3 or whatever it was for the headlamp and a spare small led headlamp as a back-up, im thinking of getting a samalite headlamp as the spelio is well over 10yr old now and a wee bit dull compaired to some newer headlamp.
like most things, you get what you pay for ;D

This is the one I use, a Petzl myolite 3, it's a hybrid xenon halogen bulb and led's.
The reason I got this was mainly due to the fact that it's very light weight for a hybrid, and it was cheap at £28.99.
The halogen has a range of 76m while the led's have a range of 25m.
Battery life is approx. 4 hours of constant running for the halogen, 130 hours for the led's.
The halogen is perfect for walking to and from places, while the led's are excellent for baiting up.
Before deciding on anything if I were you I would go into a camping shop and ask to see some working, I did this when I was down south and they allowed me to test four while in a dark cupboard.
Good luck and tight lines.
P.S. Regarding back up lights, I think I go over the top (I have two built into my tackle box an extra led head lamp a mini mag lite and a small keyring led) but it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.Last edited by spoonface; 18-10-2009, 02:24 PM.
