  • Bait Digging Questionnaire

    Hi,
I am a student from Newcastle University, and I have been given a project on intertidal collection activities within Northumberland. For part of this I would like to know more about bait digging in the area. I have an online questionnaire, and would be very grateful if any of you who dig for bait in Northumberland could fill it in. It takes 2 minutes if that, and would help my study a lot. All responses are fully confidential, and only I can see the results. Please take the time to fill it in if possible, the link is:
    Lugworm Collection

Some of you may have already answered it on the beaches in person, so please do not do it again if so.

    Thanks

This is a great survey to find out where the best bait beds are. I wish I had thought of this!!!

Good luck with your studies and Phd but after reading your questions this imformation is just not going tobe given up by any sensible angler.Got too many authorities councils and tree hugging twitchers already trying ban collection of bait now and in the past as it is.
Nothing personal toward you but you may claim the information is confidential now but it always has a strange way of becoming public and being used against anglers in the future by the above groups.

I would be carefull and consider your response. In my opinion it seems more like an impact statement with a hidden agenda, and could probably, or likely be used against anglers, or to halt and prevent legitimate bait digging in Northumberland.

It does sound incredibly suss! Either a clever angler out for some tips or an organisation with an agenda

Just Google his name, he is studying. At Newcastle marine tech I think and his sponsers are natural England

Seems to know most of the common digging places already and they are also popular fishing areas.
He says he may of already spoke to some anglers while they were digging Maybe some of you may recall speaking to him or maybe NOT!!

most lads that dig there own bait tend to keep there spots to themselves
there are a lot of areas now you are banned from digging.
same as lads that have a favourite fishing mark they don't broadcast the venue.

She rather than he. That's all I know. I don't know how or where to dig bait.

                          Bate digging

After reading all the comments I think that if you give the information they will put in place some type of ban so you can not dig them areas hopefully I am wrong with this , they done it in buggle bay I think
