  • slosh 20 anygood?

ive been looking to buy a multiplier and was thinking of getting the slosh 20 does anyone recon these are anygood?. ive found them for around £80 brand new is this a good price for them?. ive always used a fixed spool reel without any problems but I am thinking of giving a multiplier a go for a change.it would mainly be used off a beech. any help greatly appreciated. is it true that once i get used to using it I will get further casts?

yer bud, I dont use the slosh myself but av heard its a cracking reel. along the lines of getn further with a multiplier, yes with practice and patience you with get more distance but the amount of extra yardage you will get compared to a fixed spool will depend on the casting practice you put in.

If your used to using fixed spools another alternative is to replace the mono line on fixed spool with braid and with 30lb braid being as thick as about 10lb mono longer distances are easier achievable. Av seen guys casting with braid and getn further than others using multipliers.

Still use a shock leader though bud..... saftey is No 1 Rule

Top reel mate, got the 20 and the 30 on the recommendations from here and can't fault them. One thing though - when you buy them the brakes aren't fitted, they're in a pack in the box, common issue that I got caught out with was not to realise and then wonder why the spool was spinning out of control every cast!

Just remember to check if your rod rings are ok for braid, i was told it will cut into the end ring over a period of time.
Sorry not sure which rings are ok but a decent tackle shop will be able to help you bud

            reel

excellent reel m8 i use the slosh 30 and pull fish to 8lb with mine they are probs 1 of the best reels for the price in my opinion u can get them for around 60quid m8 new the slosh 30 will hold more line than the 20 i use 30lb straight through mine but if you were to do this with the 20 youd probably cast it all off hope this helps.

if you have not used a multi before try to borrow one of a m8 to see if you can get away with using one , then do you use it reel up on the rod or reel down. i started off reel up first then after a while saw others using it reel down ,then i tried it down a bit funny to start then i got the knack and use it down all the time when using multipliers.

if you do use braid on your reel make sure you use a finger poke .

About braid cutting into rings - I remember my old man having a bunch of 8' pier rods and these were real old solid glass things, all of them had grooves from the line cut into the tips mainly, and this is in the 70's long before braid - rings wear regardless of what line you use.
