  • Greylon

    Just bought some 40lb Greylon...any thoughts/experiences?

Read some old threads (2007) and there's complaints about knot strength etc - any more recent thoughts

    Cheers in advance
    Ooh a new vid!

Good stuff as far as I'm concerned - it's what I use when I don't want to fish a leader (ie Whitley Beach the other night when there was a lot of weed in the water). Seems pretty tough as well (try snapping it!) & good value, you should get 6 or 7 fills of an SL30 for about a tenner. However, I think it's been discontinued so worth getting a few spools to stock up!

    Cheers, Gary

Yeah, I've emptied my SLX30 when giving it a good bray, but for the majority of occasions I find it fine - it is thick stuff though so doubt you'd get more than 100yds on a 525, maybe enough for plopping but you'd have to stuff the spool! Like I say I only use it occasionally as most of the time I prefer 30lb plus leader - no quibbles over knot strength & the like as the only knot I tie in it is a 5 turn grinner to my rig-clip.

i had 15lb on my spinning reel and it seemed to snap randomly in places !
i have the 25lb on my 525 and have had no problems with snapping or knot strenth , i thought with it being a copolymer it was a smaller dia for the b.s ?
mine certainly looks like a lower b.s / thinner line
