Sounds like they give the same excuse to everyone who returns a broken rod. I have heard that same excuse on other forums in the past. A lad broke one (sk4) on Tynemouth pier last Sunday doing a practice cast before the match started!
I think there are no questions asked because they know there are inherent problems.

they only cost sonik buttons to make in the far east so replacing them isnt a problem to them..

I bought a Sonic fly rod up at the reservoir few months back sk4. After a go i decided to swap it for a Greys grx 7-8. Wished i had just got the SK3 fly rod.-no real difference. When I spoke to one of the directors on the phone at Sonic he had no hesitation when i wanted to swop the rod over for a Greys as they come with a no-satisfaction 30 odd day swop rule. buy a Sonic. I was very impressed and will be back Sonic.
Funny thing is when i opened the Greys there was a sticker on the bag saying made in China. I was gobsmacked and rang their company. I was told all the cheaper range end rods had blanks from China thats why they could sell them cheaper-think the same blanks are used by Sonic.

well mick i use to fly fish a lot greys and hardys are made in china some one may correct me here but as far as im aware theres only the hardy angel made in the uk

perhaps this is a good thing as for my guitars some made in the far east are a lot beter than the uk american made equal any day
i belive there craftsman ship has to be spot on or there out on an ear no income,,unlike our workforce whos allowed a t break when there ppl lying dying

at one time made in korea was a joke but now there luxury items

the above lines was not a direct go at ambulance drivers if theres any on here just an example of what the british work force can get away with so shody workmanship would be a snip

The rods made in Britain cost over £400.

Sonic really have a good name. Ian my mate bought a beachaster last season and he thinks its great.

I fancy a lighter rod than my Abu Suveron xp which is like a tent pole. Looking at Century tip Tornado but they are not cheap. Reckon decent sonic half the price.

Well Mick thats worth at least a Sonik cap if not a rod.

you've just hit the nail on the head Mick...anything made in this country costs an arm an a leg compared to the so called cheaper imports

worth noting for the "china" bashers that cheaper does not always mean less quality especially as you'll be reading this post on a PC probably made in the far east with your imported TV on in the corner etc etc

A lot of of noted fishing brands are made in the far east - it's just an easy excuse to knock a brand if you ask me...particularly among fishing rod snobs
