want my gear set up for next summer lods of time yet but can any one recomend a rod thats eyed for a multi approx 8ft long and able to throw plugs out,, matched with a abu 6500
i need a spinning rod but for the multyplyer not spinning reel regards peter
a use a shakespeare salt spin 10ft 1-3oz and u could deff us a small baitcaster multi on it! a use it for spinnin,pluggin,lure fishin, float fishin and can whack a lead and bait out a fair distance
any reason why uwant to use a multi wit it? av jus got meself a rod specifically for lure fishing and pluggin and thats 8ft 6. 15-40g

Peter. if you are'nt in a hurry, have a look around as many tackle shops as you can and see what they have in. I just use a Carp rod for most of my spinning and float fishing but I went to a few shops before I found the one's I felt had the best action for what I wanted.

I use a daiwa millionaire, 90% of the time for spinning, the big carp rods can throw 45 - 60g lures a long way, use a greyflex quite a bit as well, got 10 and 11 footers, but probably my all time favourite rod and have yet to find anything I prefer is a an 8' daiwa whisker, superb casting rod.
Works with the millionaire really well, have pulled some cracking fish in on it over the years
If I could only ever have 1 rod and had to throw every other one away, that'd be the one I'd keep

thanks lads sid the reason for a multiplyer rod is ive got two 6500,s lying around and would make sense to use them,,will certainly look at the dawaias thanks for taking the time to reply appreciated pete
What plugs are you planning on using or are you planning on using tobys and wedges?
If you are thinking about bass lures which are typically between 10-20g then I would go for a rod thats designed for plugging. You want a short stiff rod thats rated for 10-50g.
Heres a few ideas:
Bushwacker
These are pike plugging rods but loads of UK Bass pluggers are using them. Cheap and good quality.
These are slightly more expensive but suposedly very good quality. Comparible to some of the £200+ rods. The castign weight onthem is suposed to be way below stated and are suitable for typical Bass plugs.
The site is french but you can get them here although they are not listed on the site. £130 but were £250 six months agao. Just ordered one of these myself, supposed to be the bizness.
From here you can spend £350 plus on a Tenryu but these are serious rods and you would have to know you definately wanted to go this way before spending that amount of cash.
Another thing I would say is if you are going to be lure fishing with the lighter Bass plugs I would suggest a fixed spool. you want to be using braid for the best response and feedback from the plugs and a fixed spool is much easier and reliable to use with braid. You don't have to spend hundreds to get a decent reel. I've got a Shimano Exage that you can find for around £50 and its a cracking reel. Go for a 3000 or 4000 size.
For braid I have been using Power Pro and have had no problems with windknots or anything else. It definately makes a huge difference using this as aposed to mono, much more feedback and you can put much more life into your lures with twitches and flicks.
If you are going to be using heavier lures then what has been suggested to you sounds fine, but if you are going for the lighter Bass specialised lures then you may struggle. Good luck with whatever you go for.
Or the Hiro Bassfighter which is slightly heavier rating at 20-60g. Its been recommended to me by a few experienced pluggers and its dirt cheap. Only drag is the stupid camo grips:
