Ive had major problems with the above reel,i dont know if its just me or what!

9 times out of 10 on casting i get birds nests, ive tried everything that i know of to try and get it to work for me.Ive used 3 different types of line adjusted this adjusted that but still nowt works.
Currently im using this reel with a Greys GRX-S with a 5oz weight.

Any info or advice would be muchly epreciated as im ready to chuck the bugger in the north sea!!!

    Cheers!

do you know where to find them, if not take the side plate off opposite the handle, there should be 2 small bits of plastic on a pin, there'll be 2 red or 2 white or one of each.

dont tighten it too much, you'll damage the spindle. tighten it so the spool has a slight bit of side to side movement.

                  Lol!!!

Aye ive got a packet with two red things and 2 clear bits in,so if i take the plate off opposite the handle im going to assume that the 2 clear bits slide on either end of the pin and the 2 red bits go on either end of the pins??

start off with the 2 biggest ones (not sure which colour) then move down to two smaller ones then the one of the big ones then one of the small ones. you'll find a speed that suits you

start with the to red ones, there the best for when you first use it, gradually change one red for clear until when you cast is almost bird nests but a slight thumb tap should solve it.... great reels when you get them right, also oiling them creates a smoother bearing with the viscocity of the oil.... hope this helps
Species: Cod, Bass, Coalie, Flounder, Dab, Rockling, Mackerel, Plaice, Pollock, Ballen Wrasse, L/S Scorpion, Common Blenny, Weaver (unfortunately), Whiting, Common Eel, Trout, Pike... think that's it

Some good advice there - they do take a bit of tinkering to get just right for you. I'd also add don't overfill the spool to begin with & bear in mind the thinner your line the more braking you're likely to need. Thicker & thinner oils can be used as well to slow down or speed up your reels as required.

I find 1 little red one a good compromise. 2 red is overbraked.

Give it plenty of thumb as well - that's if your thumb's long enough to get over the top of the spool of a Slosh 30, Gollum couldn't get a grip IMO

Why are they mounted so high?
