Spent quite a bit of time last summer (08) fishing Alnmouth, the estuary there is good for flatties, some bigguns too. Other than that Druridge beach in the middle, Wansbeck Estuary at Cambois.

Seaton Sluice harbour mouth used to be brilliant and chocker with flatties until about the mid 1980's, not sure what happened (sewage spill maybe) but they all vanished almost overnight and I've not had anything bar the odd crab out of there ever since.

I've you walk through the Tyne Pedestrian tunnel there's a jetty on the south side near it that used to be great, not sure what it's called but used to fish there with my brother and never failled to get some nice flatties there every trip.

Could try Druridge bay, some canny sandbars and channels on the beach there just north of Cresswell in the area between the 1st and 2nd carparks (ie opposite the farm with the big pond at the roadside). Can see the channel and sandbar in the pic here, this was as the tide was dropping last weekend:
Yeah Druridge looks nice doesn't it? Seems strange about Seaton Sluice harbour mouth. It looks like it should be a nice shot for them.

I used to fish Blyth beach a lot and although I have had a few flatties over the years never a great deal.

I would agree with Broony, Alnmouth is a great spot and just a very short walk from the car park to the beach. It is also a beautiful spot on a nice day.

Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Yes thinking Alnmouth now, it is a lovely spot for sure. Hopefully a nice weekend: spot of flattie fishing on Saturday and then the open on Sunday.

Blyth beach is producing some small flatties, had a short session last night, not even an hour and had 2 - fishing next to the metal pipe beside the pier car-park.
