  • Flattie marks

I'm taking my nieces fishing on Saturday and looking for some marks that are decent for flatties north of the Tyne (or lower Tyne itself). Don't really fancy going up the river for them. Does the small inlet in Seaton Sluice produce?

    Any thoughts?

unless you mean the SBRAAC Club Website link in my signature...nothing on there anyway as our season has only just started and the site has only just been created...everything that may be any interest to anybody is already "open" to everyone

Tynes a good bet but not this weekend up the river as its a bigger tide and theres too much pull, as said the middens beach is a bet and comfortable fishing. Seaton sluice is no good but the beach is if you can find a hole infront of a sandbar, not renownd for producing alot of flattys though.

Cheers, was also thinking of the smaller beach as well near lifeboats heard it can also produce too.

Cheers, from what I remember sluice seems to look similar to the Aln and thought it could produce. Though its been so long since I was near either shots Im probably way out in my minds eye

Cambois too. Am always getting plagued by them at the end near the Buccaneer pub, or near the estuary.

As mentioned, the Wansbeck estuary or on the beach at the mouth, been a bit hit and miss this year though for me.

Seaton Sluice harbour mouth used to be brilliant and chocker with flatties until about the mid 1980's, not sure what happened (sewage spill maybe) but they all vanished almost overnight and I've not had anything bar the odd crab out of there ever since.

I've you walk through the Tyne Pedestrian tunnel there's a jetty on the south side near it that used to be great, not sure what it's called but used to fish there with my brother and never failled to get some nice flatties there every trip.

Could try Druridge bay, some canny sandbars and channels on the beach there just north of Cresswell in the area between the 1st and 2nd carparks (ie opposite the farm with the big pond at the roadside). Can see the channel and sandbar in the pic here, this was as the tide was dropping last weekend:
